Official GripMeter companion

climbasics

See exactly how hard you pull.

Stop guessing on the hangboard. Climbasics reads live force from your gauge, guides you through proven finger protocols, and keeps every session in one place.

Why it matters

Your fingers deserve better than “felt hard today”

Progress hides in the details: how hard you pulled, how long you held, and whether left and right are telling different stories. Climbasics makes those details visible.

Train to a real target

Hit a percentage of your max — not a vague RPE. Live bands show when you’re under, on, or over.

Protect the session

Clear scan and tare steps, reconnect if Bluetooth drops, and timers that respect the rest you set.

Watch yourself get stronger

Every protocol syncs to the cloud. Export CSV when you want the raw numbers in a spreadsheet.

Protocol suite

Six tests that cover how fingers actually get stronger

From a progressive warm-up to critical force — each runner shows live force beside the timer, with target lines and work/rest cues you can follow mid-pull.

01

Finger warm-up

A progressive ladder that primes tendons before you go hard — not a random hang countdown.

02

Max strength

Find your peak pull and compare hands when you want a clear left–right picture.

03

Rate of force development

See how fast you produce force — live kg/s while you pull, not only after the set.

04

Endurance holds

Hold a target and track time above it. You’ll know the moment you slip out of the zone.

05

Repeaters

Work and rest with force targets. The rest you type is the rest you get.

06

Critical force

Run the long protocol that maps sustainable finger capacity — built for dense sampling.

Your gauge

Official for GripMeter. Open to more gauges.

Climbasics is the official GripMeter app — built so a GripMeter out of the box just works. We also fully support Tindeq Progressor today, and we’re adding more devices over time so you’re not stuck if your hanging gauge isn’t a GripMeter.

  • Full support now: GripMeter and Tindeq Progressor
  • Tare, battery, calibration, and auto-reconnect
  • Quick Grip Assessment when you only need peaks
  • More devices on the way — we’re expanding support continuously

During the pull

Force and time, side by side — so you can stay in the zone

The running screen puts live force and the timer on equal footing. Target lines, color bands, and work/rest strips keep you honest without staring at a separate stopwatch.

  • Expanded live chart that fills the screen you have
  • Hand-specific flows with a clear “other hand” path
  • Scan and tare guidance before you start loading
  • Research citations on each protocol’s setup screen

How it works

From first connect to a session you can trust

Four steps. No spreadsheet required on day one.

01

Connect

Pair GripMeter or Tindeq, tare, confirm battery, and you’re ready.

02

Choose a protocol

Warm-up through critical force — or a quick assessment for peaks only.

03

Pull to the target

Follow live force, timers, and phase cues instead of guessing effort.

04

Keep the data

Sessions sync automatically. Export CSV whenever you want a deeper look.

More than the pull

A full training home — not just a force readout

Measured sessions sit next to plans, workouts, and readiness so finger work fits the rest of your week.

Plans & scheduling

Structure your week so hard finger days and rest days actually show up on the calendar.

Exercise & workout library

Climbing-specific work, plus an interval timer for days you train without a gauge.

Readiness & workload

Check in daily and see training load trends — so a big max day has context.

Work with a coach

Share workouts with a coach today. Deeper grip data in the coach portal is coming next.

At a glance

What you get that most apps leave out

Gauge apps often stop at the pull. Training apps often ignore the gauge. Climbasics connects both.

FAQ

Questions climbers ask first

What is Climbasics?

A climbing training app that connects to force gauges over Bluetooth. You get live force, a full protocol suite, cloud history, plans, workouts, readiness tracking — and a way to train with a coach.

Which devices work?

Full support today for GripMeter (including older units that still advertise as ClimbingNova) and Tindeq Progressor. Climbasics is the official GripMeter app, and we’re expanding device support over time — more gauges will land as we ship them.

Do I need a force gauge?

No. Plans, workouts, the interval timer, and readiness work without one. A gauge unlocks live force, assessments, and the protocol suite — that’s where Climbasics shines.

Is it free?

The app is live on the stores but invite-only today. When paid plans arrive, the intent is a free tier with live measurement, peak force, and recent history — so buying a GripMeter never leaves you stranded — plus a paid tier for the full suite, unlimited history, export, and insights.

How do I get in?

If you already have an invite, download from the App Store or Google Play. Otherwise join the waitlist below and we’ll email you when a spot opens.

What about privacy?

Analytics only run if you agree. The app asks once, clearly, and you can change your mind. Crash and usage pipelines deliberately avoid health data and personal details.

Ready to train with real numbers?

Climbasics is invite-only while we polish the experience. Join the list — or download now if you already have access.
